Prayer Request

Our Mission
To provide opportunities for children and families to worship,
engage with God’s Word, pray, serve and have fun together.

Our Purpose
To give children the opportunity to know Jesus Christ and
develop a relationship with Him, as Lord and Savior.

Our Methods

  • Trust that God is already at work

  • Undergird the ministry in prayer

  • Have confidence in the priesthood of all believers*
  • Create a safe environment

  • Teach Bible stories, principles and values, and memorize Scripture

  • Help children apply what they learn in the Bible to their everyday lives

  • Teach children how to use their Bibles

  • Teach about and do missions and giving

  • Develop a sense of family

  • Be serious about our purposes
  • Serve with joy

  • Have fun

  • Keep it simple
  • Coordinate with, support and be supported by fellow children’s ministry leaders and leaders in other ministry areas
* “Priesthood of all believers” is the belief that, through Christ, all believers have access to God and can minister for God.  It is based on I Peter 2:9: “You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

Overview of Programs

Nursery care is available for children up to three years old during the worship service and the education hour on Sunday mornings.  Nursery care is also available during many of our special services and events.
Children’s Worship takes place during the sermon and congregational prayer time of the worship service.  Children ages 3 through third grade are invited to join two adult volunteer leaders for an age-appropriate worship experience that includes listening to and responding to God’s Word as it is shared using simple wooden figures and a Biblically based script.
Sunday School is our Sunday morning education program for preschoolers through sixth graders and takes place during the education hour (10:50 - 11:50 a.m.).  Children in preschool through fourth grade participate in what is known as the Workshop Rotation Model of Sunday school.  This is an exciting program that focuses on multi-dimensional learning by having the children explore a Bible story or theme in various workshops over a period of 4 weeks.  Children in fifth and sixth grade participate in a special catechism class in which they explore fundamental fatih questions and have opportunities to connect with one another.
Family Connections are gatherings for families with children in sixth grade and younger.  Some “Connections” are on Sundays after church, and others are during the week.  These get-togethers usually take place around a meal (provided by the church) and are meant to give children and families the opportunities to grow closer to God and to each other.
Kids’ Service Nights typically take place on the fourth Wednesday of the month from 6-8 p.m.  Service Nights are for children in first through sixth grade and include dinner, games, and hands-on service projects.  Childcare is provided for younger children so that parents can have the opportunity to do something to spiritually nourish themselves or simply have some quiet time.  (Children must be potty-trained for parents to leave the church campus.)
Thursday Morning Childcare is available for children whose moms participate in the Thursday morning women’s Bible study, which takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. during the school year.
MOPS Kids is the program for children whose moms participate in MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), which meets once per month, generally on the first Friday of each month.
Colbert Co-Op is our Christian cooperative preschool that meets on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to noon.
Mini Vacation Bible School is a three-day VBS program for three year-olds through rising first graders.  Mini VBS usually takes place in early June, before most schools get out for the summer.
