Pastor Eric Peterson is retiring from Colbert Presbyterian Church after 29 years of faithful ministry.

Join us in celebrating Eric and Elizabeth on Saturday, June 27, from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Colbert Presbyterian.

What to expect from the evening

Dinner

Catered by Feast World Kitchen, from 5:30-6:15 we will enjoy a meal together in the Gathering Place. Kid-friendly food provided for children.

Program

Transitioning to the Genesis Center, we will sing songs, hear an original poem, watch a video, hear from Eric, and pray over Eric and Elizabeth. Childcare for ages 0-5 provided during the program.

Pavilion Pie Party

The party will wrap up under the pines with berry pie for dessert, served in the Pavilion and on the lawn.

  • We need a team to set up tables and chairs, center pieces, and table settings before the event begins.

  • After the party is over we will need help cleaning dishes, the kitchen, and tearing down tables and chairs.

    This project is headed up by Sandi Nokes and the Deacons, and Beth Melville and the Fellowship Committee.

  • After the program, we will wrap up the evening with pie in the Pavilion. Bakers among us are encouraged to make their favorite homemade berry pies. Eric’s favorites include triple berry and blueberry pie.

Gift Opportunities

  • Through a collaboration between Ben Brody and David Bjorlin, a new hymn is being written and will be presented during the June 27th program highlighting some of the unique theological motifs that define Eric’s ministry. You may contribute financially to offset the cost of commissioning this work.

  • A quilt is being made for the Peterson family in honor of Eric’s retirement.

    This project is being created and given by the “Oh Sew Special” quilting group.

  • The Colbert Presbyterian library will become home to the Peterson Collection, a bookshelf featuring works written by Eugene Peterson, Eric Peterson, and Eric’s brother, Leif Peterson. The Collection will also include books recommended by and loved by Elizabeth and Eric.

    Interested in donating a book to the Peterson Collection? See the attached list for the titles we’re looking for and sign up to bring one in. Books may be brought to the church office at any time, where we will add a stamp to the inside cover inscribing the name of the gift-giver, in honor of the Peterson family.

  • Colbert’s Session recently voted to purchase and install in the Gathering Place a series of four, ink+watercolor paintings of native trees.

    This exhibit will be dedicated to Elizabeth Peterson, always an encourager among us to behold the beauty of God, the first Artist.

    Financial contributions in Elizabeth’s honor are welcomed to offset the cost of this investment.

  • Contribute a hand written or typed note reflecting your gratitude to the Petersons, or a memory you will cherish of them. Mary Griffith will collect all of these handwritten and typed notes and will digitize them into a memory book. Submit your notes by
